This is leonard bernstein and I’m going to tell you the story of Peter and the Wolf.
Each character in this tale is represented by a different instrument in the orchestra:
The bird, by the flute;
Peter, by the strings of the orchestra;
The cat, by the clarinet;
The grandfather, by the bassoon;
The wolf, by three horns;
The rifle shots, by the kettle drum and the bass drum;
The duck, by the oboe.
Early one morning Peter opened the gate and went out into the big green meadow.
